Rob: In this week’s weekly telegram, our traveling correspondent, Will Roberts, takes a unique look at today’s air travel. Will Roberts: Well, I’m off to Nashville, Tennessee, and then to California to do a show. And I’m doing it via the wild blue yonder. That’s right, because airplane safety, well, it’s never been better. So, I’m here to, check it out. Okay, my bags are packed, I’m ready to go, and well, here I go. Now, I normally get to the airport at least two hours early, because of the lines, and well, because I’m a trick roper and a gun spinner. Yes, guns. So, it takes a little bit longer for me to get through, you know, security. Today was a slow day, and a slow Friday, if you can believe that. Not sure if I should thank the airlines, or the price of gas, which is shooting up, and you notice this one here keeps changing by the second. (bell clangs) There goes another airline merger, but I made it all the way to x-ray, and then it hit. The lines that is; just like Disneyland, without all the fun. Now some airports have these new fangled x-rays. It’s called the back-scather. It’s the thing that shows everything, even the things you don’t want it to show. It’s called the back-scather. But, it’s really the front I’m worried about. Do you remember the old glasses we bought as a kid that allowed us to see through clothes, x-ray specs. Well, it’s the same thing, but with a pricier tag on the machine. Now, I suspect you pass if you walk through it and they wink at you. And if you fail, well, they probably laugh. Ah, I made it to the gate. And then, they changed the gate, something about having to inspect the place, because it came from Mexico. Now, I’d rather be stripped down and x-rayed in my birthday suit than, well, be in the air and be worried. So rest assured that one good thing has come from the last few years; now is the safest time to fly. It might not be the cheapest, but the safest. I’m Will Roberts, and this is your weekly telegram.
