Rob: The higher cost of food has many looking for new and innovative ways to cut costs. Our traveling correspondent, Will Roberts, has his own suggestions in this week’s weekly telegram. Will Roberts: Now all I know is what I read on the Internet, and what’s in my grocery bag. It seems that we’re buying the same things, but everything seems to be going up. It’s kind of the new fangled diet—starvation? We’re watching our weight while our pocketbooks are the ones getting thinner. The cost of some foods are going through the roof, and burning a hole in our pockets. Now, some of this fire has been fueled by the need for corn, not for salsas, and not for decorations, but for fuel. Ethanol, it’s one of the hottest new fuel sources around. Now, even though there’s a debate over this fuel; well, shucks, the real question is, would we like to overpay here at the pumps, or over there? With the price of fuel and the accessibility of how to do stuff, you know, on the Internet; well, don’t be surprised if folks don’t start home cooking their own. But, I’ve got a plan for you folks, and I’m going to give it to you for free. Yeah, the best four-letter word in the English language, free. My plan is, grow your own, organically. And if you can’t do that, well, you know, buy local. Support your local farmers, you know. And if you get something extra, well, you know where you can go to return it. Oh well, folks say that organic is too expensive. Well, your trip to the food-in-the-box may cost you more in the end, at the doc-in-the-box. My parents always told me, money doesn’t grow on trees, however a little hard work and the right seeds, and, who knows? I’m Will Roberts, and this is my weekly telegram.
