Brian Bendele
Born and raised in Chandler, OK, Brian grew up active in both 4-H and FFA, with a main interest in horses which he began showing as a youth. He graduated high school in the spring of 1999 and that fall began his freshman year at Oklahoma State University. It was at that time he got his start in broadcasting. As an agricultural communications and animal science double major, Brian had the opportunity to intern with SUNUP, an agricultural television program. Through this opportunity, he learned the basics of reporting and broadcasting.
Brian reported on stories affecting the agricultural industry all across the state and served as host when needed. He continued his interest with horses and competed at the collegiate level with OSU’s rodeo team and nationally with the American Quarter Horse Association in tie down roping. His college career consisted of going to school, working part-time on the show, and traveling across the country to rodeos.
Brian has been with Oklahoma Horizon since it began airing in 2005. He credits his time with SUNUP and Oklahoma State University for helping him gain the knowledge, connections, and experience necessary to be an effective producer for Oklahoma Horizon. He expresses genuine pleasure from the stories we cover and strives to focus on what is good and positive in rural Oklahoma. His involvement with horses and agricultural background keeps him in touch with one of the state’s largest industries. Brian says, “Agriculture is an important economic staple for the state and it is my job to make sure everyone knows about it.”
